As part of the course you are expected to select a scientist who has contributed significantly to the field of neuroethology. Write a short biography on that individual and discuss in what way this person's work has furthered our understanding of the neural machinery underlying behavior. Your essay should not exceed 2000 words and has to be submitted 2 weeks (Mon, 4/19/04) before finals to allow for revisions suggested by your fellow students and myself.
Things to remember when your work is critiqued: Comments will help you improve your paper. A large number of comments indicates that reviewers have spent a lot of time and effort reading it. Be thankful, these comments will help you identify the paper's weaknesses.
Things to remember when you critique the work of others: Provide your colleague with a well-intended critique of the paper. Return an objective analysis of its weaknesses as well as of its strengths. Ask specific questions when sections are unclear.
